CNC 2024: Day One!

The 2024 City Nature Challenge has begun!

We are looking at another less than ideal weather weekend, but I think we can just remind ourselves we need the rain and CNC anyway (as long as it's safe of course!).

As we get into CNC weekend, I wanted to share a few reminders:

  1. We are looking for WILD observations. If you do happen to document a planted flower or tree, just be sure to mark it as 'captive/cultivated'
  2. Remember to grab a friend and get them involved. The more people documenting the better.
  3. Try not to duplicate observations. If you are documenting with a friend, be sure that only one of you uploads an observation of any particular wild individual. It is okay to upload the same species, as long as it is a different individual.
  4. Be weather aware! We have forecasted storms this weekend so please keep an eye on the weather when you make your CNC plans.
  5. Don't forget to ID your observations! And if you do get stuck inside during a storm, you can still participate in the CNC by helping others ID their observations!
  6. You do not have to join this project to participate. As long as your observations are made during April 26-29 within Lancaster county the count for this project. However joining the project does help you keep track of totals, your ranking, and let you easily find project posts!

Thanks to everyone who is participating this year!
Do you think we can make it to 500 observations today?

Happy Nature-ing!
